Prayer to St. Michael
A powerful prayer seeking the protection of St. Michael the Archangel against spiritual evil.
The Prayer
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
About
Saint Michael the Archangel
Saint Michael the Archangel is one of the most important angels in the Catholic faith. His name means "Who is like God?" and he is venerated as the leader of God's army of angels against Satan and the forces of evil.
In the Book of Revelation, St. Michael is described as leading the angels in battle against the dragon (Satan): "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon."
The prayer to St. Michael became particularly popular in the Catholic Church and was widely encouraged after Pope Leo XIII's vision of spiritual warfare in the 19th century. This prayer is a powerful petition for protection against evil and spiritual attacks.
St. Michael is typically depicted as a warrior angel wearing armor and holding a sword or spear, often shown standing over Satan or the devil. He is venerated as the patron saint of police officers, soldiers, and all those who fight against evil.
