The Annunciation
"And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women."
Luke 1:28 (Douay-Rheims)The Angel Gabriel announces to Mary that she has been chosen to be the Mother of God. Mary humbly accepts God's will with the words, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word." Let us meditate on Mary's perfect humility and openness to God's plan.

The Visitation
"And Mary rising up in those days, went into the hill country with haste into a city of Juda. And she entered into the house of Zachary, and saluted Elizabeth."
Luke 1:39-40 (Douay-Rheims)Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth, who is also with child. Elizabeth greets Mary with the words, "Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb." Let us contemplate Mary's charitable haste to serve others and share the joy of Christ.

The Nativity
"And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him up in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn."
Luke 2:7 (Douay-Rheims)Jesus is born in a humble stable in Bethlehem. The King of Kings enters the world in poverty and simplicity. Let us reflect on the virtue of detachment from worldly goods and the richness of spiritual poverty.

The Presentation
"And after the days of her purification, according to the law of Moses, were accomplished, they carried him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord."
Luke 2:22 (Douay-Rheims)Mary and Joseph present the Child Jesus in the Temple. Simeon recognizes Him as the Messiah and prophesies that a sword shall pierce Mary's heart. Let us meditate on obedience to God's law and acceptance of His will.

The Finding in the Temple
"And it came to pass, that, after three days, they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, hearing them, and asking them questions."
Luke 2:46 (Douay-Rheims)After three days of sorrow, Mary and Joseph find the twelve-year-old Jesus teaching in the Temple. Jesus says, "Did you not know that I must be about my Father's business?" Let us seek Jesus always with perseverance and find joy in His presence.
